This policy explains, in simple terms, how Açaí Atlas handles visitor information.
What data we collect
Açaí Atlas doesn’t use a contact form, newsletter, or any account-creation mechanism of its own. The only contact channel is direct email: if you send us a message, the data you provide (such as your email address and the content of the message) is used only to reply to you.
Like practically any website, the server that hosts Açaí Atlas automatically logs basic technical access data (such as IP address and browser information) for operational and security reasons — this is a standard feature of any web hosting, not a tracking or profiling mechanism built by this project.
Cookies and similar technologies
Strictly technical cookies from WordPress itself, required for the site’s basic functioning, may be present at any time — they aren’t used to track visitors across sites or to build browsing profiles, and they don’t require consent because they’re essential to the site working.
Audience-measurement (analytics) cookies are only placed in your browser after you give explicit consent in the cookie banner. Before that consent, no analytics cookie or script is loaded. See “Consent” below for how to decide and how to review your decision at any time.
Consent
On your first visit, a notice lets you choose to accept or decline audience-measurement cookies — essential technical cookies work either way, since they don’t depend on consent. Your choice is stored in your own browser and can be reviewed at any time, for example by clearing the site’s browsing data or using the preference-review mechanism available in the site footer, once enabled. Declining doesn’t limit access to any Açaí Atlas content.
Audience measurement (Analytics)
Açaí Atlas may use Google Analytics (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site — for example, which articles are read the most, which country or language visits come from, and how people navigate between pages. These tools are only loaded after your consent (see “Consent” above).
This measurement doesn’t identify you personally by name or email; it uses technical identifiers (such as cookies and IP address, the latter handled anonymized when Google Analytics offers that feature) to distinguish visits. Specific interactions — such as liking an article or starting/submitting a comment — also generate this kind of technical event, always subject to the same consent and never including the name, email, or text you typed. Google and Microsoft may process this data on servers outside Brazil — see “International visitors” below.
Financial support (payments)
Voluntary financial support for the project is active. Payment is processed by Stripe, in its own secure environment — Açaí Atlas doesn’t process or store card data or other sensitive financial information directly. Stripe sends Açaí Atlas the confirmation needed for the transaction. Stripe’s handling of this data is also subject to its own privacy policy.
Comments
Comments are enabled on the site’s editorial articles. When you comment, you voluntarily submit your name, email, and comment text — used exclusively to display the comment publicly (name and text) and for editorial moderation purposes (email, never displayed publicly). Comments from new authors are reviewed before they appear. To prevent abuse and spam, we use a short-lived technical identifier derived from your IP address (never stored in its original form, only transformed irreversibly and for a limited time) — used for no other purpose. In addition to this short-lived identifier, the originating IP address is used transiently, only while the comment is being submitted, for security and abuse-prevention mechanisms (such as rate-limiting); it is not stored in raw form — it is converted into a non-reversible technical identifier before being saved with the comment, and cannot be used to directly identify the visitor. The browser/device used (user agent) is not stored. We don’t use Gravatar or any other external avatar provider; no profile image is fetched from third parties.
Indexing and SEO tools
We use (or intend to use) Google Search Console, an operational tool that helps search engines index the site correctly. It doesn’t install cookies in the visitor’s browser or track individual behavior — it works from Google’s own search systems, not from your visit to the site.
Third parties and embedded content
Açaí Atlas doesn’t embed third-party content (such as videos, maps, or social media posts). The only external services that may process visit data are the audience-measurement tools described above (subject to consent) and what’s necessary for basic site hosting.
How we use the data collected
Data sent by email is used exclusively to reply to your message. Aggregate audience data (when analytics consent is given) is used only to understand the site’s editorial performance — for example, which topics interest readers most — and is never sold.
How long we keep data
Messages received by email are kept only for as long as needed to reply to the contact and, when applicable, to maintain a basic record of the communication — we don’t use this data for marketing purposes or retain it indefinitely.
Audience-measurement data, when consent is given, follows the default retention period configured in the tools themselves (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) — a period we’ll document here with the exact value once these tools are actually activated.

Your rights
Under Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD), you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data this site may have collected, as well as clarification on how that data is handled. You may also withdraw, at any time, consent given for audience-measurement cookies, with no impact on your use of the site. To do so, contact us at the email below.

International visitors
Açaí Atlas is operated from Brazil, and this policy is governed by Brazilian law, in particular the LGPD. Visitors from other countries may be entitled to additional protections under their own local laws, which this policy doesn’t replace. Once audience-measurement tools are active and consent is given, technical data may be processed on Google and Microsoft servers located outside Brazil, as part of the normal operation of those tools.
Updates to this policy
This policy may be updated as Açaí Atlas evolves — for example, when new measurement tools are actually activated. The date of the last relevant update will always be shown at the top of this page when that happens.
